1. When did you last sing happy birthday to someone? When were you last
sung to? Does that embarrass you or do you enjoy being the center of
attention on your special day?
I would say my parents, whose birthdays were at the end of March and beginning of April. My family always sings me Happy Birthday. I hope no one says anything if we're at a restaurant because I hate having the waiters/waitresses making such a racket. But inevitably, someone does and I wind up blushing like it's nobody's business.
2. Name a famous or 'infamous' person (living or deceased) who shares
your birth day and month. Is that someone you'd like to meet in person
if it were possible?
John Williams, composer of movie scores for Superman, Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Jaws, and Jurassic Park. Also, James Dean, Lana Turner, Jack Lemmon, Gary Coleman, John Grisham, Jules Vern and General Sherman.
3. Someone hands you a box tied up in a lovely bow...what are you hoping to find inside?
Well, now that will depend on the size of the box. lol
4. What can you guarantee about yourself?
My loyalty.
5. Talking art and beautiful cities here...'The Last Supper' in the Santa Maria della Grazie Abbey in Milan Italy or 'The Mona Lisa' in The Louvre, Paris...which would you most like to see up close and in person? Why?
Now why would you make me choose between the two? That's just mean. No, I will go to both places and see both of them. One day.
6. Your favorite dessert?
Choices, choices, choices. Popcorn and M&M's.
7. This coming weekend marks the official start of autumn (in the
Northern hemisphere)...what is something you do to get ready for fall?
What is one thing you're looking forward to on your fall calendar?
Spring or fall-which do you prefer?
I start breaking out the sweaters and wait for it to cool off. Here in Redding, it can stay pretty dang warm til October sometimes. Seriously, our summer is too hot for the Devil himself. I love the fall weather - the cool crisp air. But I also enjoy spring because by then I'm tired of the cold and am ready for the warmth!
8. Insert your own random thought here.
Had a sad day - finally got the phone call this morning that Papa D passed away during the night. We've been waiting for the call for the last week or so, knowing it was only a matter of time. Mom had to call me at work and let me know because one of my cousins posted something about it on FB, and she didn't want me to find out that way. Fortunately for me I hadn't been on FB this morning because its only the second day of my new job. I found out on my lunch break, so I went off by myself for a bit and cried and gathered myself and went in and informed my boss, asking for a day when I found out when we would have a family gathering at the ranch. Papa D's request was to be cremated and his ashes spread out over his ranch, no services, just a family gathering. Simple. Just they way he was.
1. I don't really remember- either way.
ReplyDelete2. How about Janet Jackson? We're both Hoosier born, and the first impression one has of either of us is a boob.
3. Chocolate Cake!!!
4. I'm not paying full attention.
5. Milan, probably. Better pizza there.
6. See #3.
7. NO MORE MOSQUITOS!!!
8. I am sorry for your family's loss. Not really random, but at least appropriate (which makes one out of eight.
OH YES, number 7. I hate mosquitoes.
DeleteAnd thank you. It's never easing losing someone we love, respect and admire.
Thank you for stopping by my blog for "The Hodgepodge", and leaving a nice comment :)
ReplyDeleteWow, you sure do share your birthday with a lot of famous people!
I'm so sorry about your Papa D. I just lost my MIL last week.
You're welcome and thanks for stopping by mine. :)
DeleteI'm sorry to hear about your MIL. Hugs to you all.
Sad to lose a loved one....but I like how you are going about saying goodbye to him. This is a lovely, memorable tribute to the man he was, I'm sure!!
ReplyDeleteYour dessert....I like popcorn [hot and buttered with real butter of course] and Jr. Mints. Yum, what a great combination. I'll have to try M&Ms now. And we have a hot, humid summer long into November. LOL...so, I can empathize with you and your liking Fall and Spring too, as I stated.
Oh I haven't even done the real tribute yet. lol He was a simple man, but he touched the lives of hundreds of people. If he wanted a service, 4 counties worth would show up for him.
DeletePopcorn and M & M's is my favorite snack. I'm sorry for your loss...no matter if it's expected, it still hits us hard. Thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteIts nice to know there are others out there that love popcorn and m&ms.
DeleteThank you. We are doing okay, a little better each day. :)
So sorry for your loss ...
ReplyDeleteAs an observation, I need to make some popcorn now ... and add M&Ms!!!! :)
Thank you. And go enjoy your popcorn. I always enjoy mine. :)
DeleteI'm sorry for your family's loss. A family gathering sounds like something good to me, since that is usually the most "pleasant" part after a funeral. Sharing memories, eating together. That is special.
ReplyDeleteJohn Grisham would be someone interesting to visit with.
It's hard for me to narrow it down to one choice on most things, such as dessert, places to visit. ;-)
Thank you. My Papa D touched a lot of people's lives. He was much loved and respected. But he was also a pretty simple person who loved what he did, which was ranching and publishing. To spend eternity on 400 beautiful acres sounds like Heaven to me.
DeleteSo sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteI am with you, I wouldn't want to choose between the paintings either, just let me see it all.
Still seems a little odd that just as I am celebrating Spring and the start of the warmer weather, all my bloggy friends are talking pumpkin spice and cooler days.
Oh and boxes with bows..I have always found that it is the little ones that can contain the most delightful surprises
Thanks, Mynx. :)
DeleteHaha, yeah, it's always a bit of a shock when I read your blogs regarding weather or seasons and I look out my window and the complete opposite. haha
Sorry to hear about your Papa D. :-( Internet hugs to you and yours.
ReplyDelete1) Unless someone wants to clear out a room, I try NOT to sing ;-)And I don't care for having it sung to me...especially in public.
2) Audrey Hepburn, Randy Travis, and Rory McIlroy (golfer).
3) Well, as I'm already married it shouldn't be a ring, lol!
4) Work ethic.
5) Never really had the desire to go to either Paris or Milan. Guess I'll pass.
6) Really depends on my mood. So as long as chocolate is involved, it's all good. ;-)
7) I like both spring and fall. For fall, I look forward to seeing the leaves change, seeing the fields filled with pumpkins, the smells of cinnamon and cloves. And Halloween!
