It's time for Wednesday Hodgepodge again!
1. Share your traditions surrounding the Christmas stocking.
In my family, we hang the stockings where we can. Currently its around the fireplace. My parents each have a stocking, as do I. Each year my parents buy each other "stuffing stockers" (as my dad calls them), and Santa fills mine each Christmas Eve. My parents and I wake up on Christmas morning and empty our stockings and see what Santa brought me. Last year marked the first year Granny joined us in our little family Christmas morning. And yes, Granny has her very own stocking. We also bought stockings for my aunt and uncle because last year they stayed with us as well, and they joined in our little Christmas morning.
2. How many hours of sleep do you average at night? Is it enough?
Probably around 6ish.
3. If you had to give up one thing for the remainder of this year what would it be?
Wow. Playing hardball here. Um. Fine. Be that way. Popcorn. I eat too much of it. But I make no guarantees.
4. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (or Wills and Kate as I like to
call them) have announced they're expecting a baby. Do you follow news
of the Royals?
I had no idea they were expecting. So, obviously, I don't follow the news of the Royals very closely. Though I did manage to watch their wedding. It was beautiful - Kate made a gorgeous bride and Will was so very happy. I'm happy they are expecting.
5. For me, the sound of childhood is__________________.
Laughter.
6. Fruit cake-yay or boo? What's your favorite dessert made with fruit?
Oooh, nasty. No on the fruitcake!
7. What is one thing you want to accomplish before 2012 comes to an end?
Saving up enough for a place of my own. I have goals of trying to move out no later than the end of January if I can swing it. I love being back home, hanging with my parents . . . but the 5th wheel is no place to live long-term. For starters, storms are very loud in it, having to go out to it in the rain sucks (and going into the house . . .), and it rocks every time I move. Not to mention I know my parents will want to use it come spring time. lol
8. Insert your own random thought here.
I forgot to get a box today for Mom and I to put all the stuff in for the boy who's angel card we took off a Salvation Army tree at the mall. Hopefully there will be some left tomorrow at work.
I too love the stocking tradition. Now that both my kids have significant others our stocking numbers have grown to include them, which is a new concept to them and makes it even more fun.
ReplyDeleteI don't care for fruit cake either. I have tried different kinds and still just do not like them.
I think stockings are fun. My parents fill each others stockings with random things.
DeleteGood luck on making your goal! It will be awesome if you can do it. Here's hoping! :D I've never tried fruit cake, but it doesn't tempt me to want to try it either.
ReplyDeleteThanks! And I see nothing right about fruitcake. lol
DeleteI love popcorn too.....but I don't think I could give it up...when I want it...gotta have it. Now, maybe I could give up putting on REAL butter. LOL
ReplyDeleteIt would be tough. Homemade popcorn is the best. Maybe I'll just give up microwave popcorn? lol
DeleteWill and Kate are definitely a cute couple. I, too, loved their wedding! :) So happy to hear they're expecting!
ReplyDeleteIt was a fluke I even caught it. But was glad I did.
DeleteI love doing Angel Trees...even though we don't get to see the faces as they open the presents, it's so much fun to be a "secret Santa" in a way. :)
ReplyDeleteIt is fun. I hope his face lights up!
DeleteNot sure I could ever give up popcorn...we have a very close relationship going! ;)
ReplyDeleteWe have stockings for everyone who stays here (at least for Christmas), too. We all look forward to seeing what "Santa" left in them. My son and his wife are not doing the Santa thing with their kids so it's going to lose a little of the magic for them.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. We always do Santa. We know it's know him, but we still say it's Santa.
Delete1. Stockings always seemed pointless w/o a fireplace...
ReplyDelete2.I can get by on 5-6 for short periods, then I've got to get a great 8.
3. Sex. I don't get none anyway.
4. Not a celebrity-hound.
5. Music.
6. Strawberry jello with banana slices and cool whip on top.
7. The next Time Machine...
8. I need to get my lights up...
Ick for 6. Lol I don't care for jello. Or cool whip. Lol
DeleteI don't think I could give up popcorn I eat it plain without butter or salt. Give me air popped all of the time. I hope you can move out in the New Year.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I could either!
DeleteEnjoyed your answers. And good luck on your goal! 6 hours sleep, I remember when I could do that... not anymore! It kills me if I do, takes a few days to get caught up...lolol Thanks for stopping by and leaving me a comment!
ReplyDeleteuntil next time... nel
Trust me, the first I get to sleep in, I take it! Lol
DeleteI do the same thing with stockings!
ReplyDeletePopccorn would be really hard for me to give up. Good luck on reaching your goal of a place of your own!
ReplyDeleteThat's why I said there would be no guarantees. Lol
ReplyDeleteHoping you'll be able to achieve your goal to be on your own by the end of the year! Stockings are fun to fill and ful to see what is in them on Christmas morn!
ReplyDeletebetty
I hope so too!
Delete#7... my goal is to finish the projects around the house that we started last Christmas. No guarantees there either. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's the thought! :)
DeleteDang it, I forgot the Wednesday hodgepodge again! Freaking dang it! Well, fine, I'll answer these questions for tomorrow...on Thursday. :/
ReplyDeleteWe have the EXACT same Christmas stocking tradition!!! That is so incredible!!!!
Fruitcake makes me gag.
You poor thing - is work still keeping you from blogging as often as you'd like? lol And of course we have the same stocking tradition - great families think alike! :D
DeleteGood luck on finding a place! It can be so nice to be close to family but I get the 5th wheel feeling :) Best wishes!!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteGood luck on getting a place on your own - popcorn is so yummy!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteYay for laughter! And Santa.
ReplyDeleteAnd boooooo to fruit cake! :)
